You make me Blush

This is a pretty little Stella McCartney dress made of silk jersey. Silk jersey should be everyone's favorite fabric. Comfy and slinky and fabulous every time. It is on mega sale which for me is kind of a bummer because it is still out of my reach but still it sure is nice to dream. I could drink a very nice martini wearing this dress. Available and on sale at Net-a-porter.com.

Shot through the Heart

And this dreamy necklace is to blame. Joanna Lingnau designs utterly charming pieces. They are avaiable directly from her website here.

This Rick Owens character is a God. It is crazy how perfect this leather jacket and these wedge boots are. I want want want want want (stomps feet). I soon as I win the loteria they will be mine! At Net-a-porter.com

Tell me about it Stud...

I love love love love love these. And I can make a pretty good argument about why I need them too. On sale and available at Urban Outfitters.

Oh the pretty colors!

Hot tip from Fancy Cakes! owner herself, Becky Golino. Sula Paint & Peel nail polish in color watermelon is THE perfect pink. Personally I've been feeling the blue toes lately and love the Azure but I'd be willing to give a number of these colors a go. They are a little on the pricey side at $9 but as little luxuries go it could bring a lot of joy for not much dough. Available on their website, and I hear at Anthropologie too.

So Salty!

I love these SALT Optics Acadia sunglasses in Toffee Tortoise Pink. They have polarized lenses which I've been dying for and how can you not love something in the color 'Toffee Tortoise Pink?' I hope I can get my hands on them soon. Available through SALT directly, the independent optics company.

Momofuku You

This looks like a super fun and interesting cookbook about the cult favorite restaurant. I read about it in Elle so it must be something. Available directly from the publisher.

Rockin' in a Free World

Since apparently bambinos like to rock and I don't want to do my rocking in anything frumpy, it has become clear that I need to pick up a rocker that rocks. This padded version of the classic Eames rocker will do just fine for me. At Lover's Lounge in the UK.

Keep it Clean

I've been wanting a new shower curtain for ages. Ages and ages really. I'm just not willing to spend a mint on something that hides away in my bathroom that no one but me ever uses. Thus, the hold up. This Number Stripe number using Alexander Girard's iconic design seems just perfect and the price is right. On sale at Urban Outfitters.

Mean Green

This hot little number from Shipley and Halmos is silk and drapey and very pretty and I think I could pull it off despite the fact that it isn't a maternity dress. Bonus, I can still wear it after the baby is born. Easy, no wrinkle and such a pretty color. On sale at Barneys NY.

Unchained Melody

These flats seem practical, pretty and tough. Considering my new found need to build out my flat shoes wardrobe, they seem like the perfect addition. Maybe I can pick them up at Banana Republic on my lunch hour.

Mr. Goldfinger

This ring would add a lot of gold fancy to my day. It is very Grecian feeling huh? Available at ShopIntuition.com.

No Hassle Tassle

I've always loved a tassle flat because of their completely unneccessary flair. These tassles also have completely unnecessary locks to keep them safe. Funny. I like the yellow ones in a big ol' size 10 because my doctor says a.) I should stop wearing heels for the rest of the pregnancy and b.) my feet will probably grow. Available at Endless.com.

Love Me Love Me

I want this awesome Nars kit. It will make me look pretty. From Sephora.

My new favorite boots. If Liz Gould taught me one thing it is that you can't go wrong with Sigerson Morrison.

It's a Cinch

This top is silk and has very, very pretty stitching. How can I say no? I can pick it up at the Arcimony summer sale.

Layer Cake

This dress looks so comfy with its layers of soft cotton jersey...wheee. It's on sale at Acrimony in San Francisco.

Magic Carpet Ride

Don't these Sam Edelman flats make you want to take a magic carpet ride where all your dreams come true? Me too. At Nordstrom.com.

Charley Charley Charley!

I love Charley Harper and thanks to my awesome brother I have one of his prints for my very own. Dan has definitely fanned the flames of love for his great graphic prints inspired by nature and now...Celine is making a tribute bag that is a great representation and kind of an amazing merger between art, fashion and nature. Yay Charley Harper! Available at Bloomingdales although way, way, way out of my league.

The Rock'n'Roll Lifestyle

Mirror Dash is Kim Gordon's new foray into fashion and the Hardy Jacket is pretty fly. I think you have to have your people email her people in order to get your hands on it.

Pretty in Pink

I'm growing my hair out right now and something like this might be nice for the in-between phases. Plus, it's my color! Available at jcrew.com.

24 Karat

I'm always on the lookout for a great goes-with-anything minimal gold metallic sandal. My last pair is beat but I still find myself throwing them on in a pinch. This pair from J. Crew is on sale and will definitely fit the bill. I'm a size 10. Available on their website.

High Fashion Steve McQueen

I saw this Peter Som sweatshirt at Carrots in San Francisco and fell in love. I'm in the process of trying to make my own out of a sweatshirt I bought at the Gap and a vintage brooch from the Alameda Antique Fair. The fancy one is available at Saks.

Pretty Ladies

I think Kat Macleod's illustrations are so, so lovely. I want one for my future design studio wall. Available at Lamington Drive.

Summer Picnic*

I want to wear this top to a summer picnic. I think the blue will look really pretty with my eyes. And...it's on sale!

*Update: I bought this pretty top at the sale price and it is very cute. Lots of tatas. Hello Summer!

Ooooh Bubbles!

This darling bubble top reminds me of one my fancy friend Janice might wear and I do love her style. I'm loving that it is on sale!

Just my Stripe*

This knit tank top is adorable and on sale at Anthropologie.
Yay!
*Update: This one came home with me. The top stitching is prettier in person than in the picture.

One for One

Although they aren't the most stylish kicks, I think this Blake guy over at Tom's Shoes is doing something great by giving a kid in need a pair of shoes for every pair he sells. So, I've picked a favorite and they've made my wish list. The cobalt polka dots are really fun and have the perfect amount of whimsy to make a pretty utilitarian shoe feel like something fun for the weekend. Buy direct at tomsshoes.com.

I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for Mulberry's clear plastic ice cream tote with illustrations by Julie Verhoeven. I love Ms. Verhoeven's illustrations and have for years. It is no wonder she is the darling of the fashion industry. It was on sale at Net-a-porter.com
but alas I think is sold out now.

Swimming in Style

These swim caps by Marc Jacobs are incredibly goofy but for only 3 bucks more than a plain one I might be persuaded. Maybe Amy can pick on up for me at the New York store, (212) 924-6126. $10.

Pistol & Key

This Piero Fornasetti desk is amazing and I want it. Priced upon request at Hedge.
Italy c. 1988.

Aloha 'Oe

I'd love to take a Hawaiian vacation to Kauai, hike the Kalalau trail on the Na Pali coast and stay on a local organic farm run by some real cool people. Oh wait, I can! North County Farms
is run by a mom and her kids who are into food and sustainable farming and world travel and learning. They have a couple of cottages to rent at very reasonable rates and I'm sure they'd love to have me (or is that the other way around?) I'd like to stay there a few days and couple it with a backpacking trip to Kalalau.
Man, I love fresh pineapples!

Hey Tough Guy

These Golden Goose Chain Boots are probably too tough (and too pricey) for me but I would love to rock them with skinny jeans, a white t shirt and a gray cashmere cardigan sweater vest. That's right, I said it. When my ship comes in I'll pick them up at Aloha Rag.

Thinking Pink

I'm clearly in the mood for a tunic. This one is hot pink and has the same little fishy design as my cocktail glasses. This is how I want to dress all the time. Available at Pink Mascara.

Dress Me Up

Recently I went to Solana Beach for my dear friend Deidre's bachelorette shin-dig and we went shopping in the Cedros design district. My friend Lisa and I both fell head over heels for a Tucker blouse that was gold silk with crazy fun hot pink, cobalt blue and white polka dots. I've found it in the Tunic dress version and now I am truly in love. I must have. Available at Rarechic.com
and in my size!

Solid Gold Dancers

Last fall I met Toby in New York and tacked a long weekend onto his work trip. He had been there a few days before me and sent me a picture message of these kicks that were in a store window next to our hotel. By the time I arrived in town however, they were gone. I've got a soft spot for them because they got him thinking about me in my absence. They are wild and silly and ridiculous and I love them for it. And, good news, they are on sale at Dr. Jays.

I Bless the Rains

I saw this swimsuit in the latest issue of Elle and thought it might be the one-piece to pull me away from bikinis. I mean, even my workout suit is a two-piece. But I think this one is darling and will be very flattering. It has great vibrant colors and patterns, not to mention the do goodie aspect. By Yodit Eklund for the Bantu swimwear line, they are designed on West Africa’s Ivory Coast and manufactured in Ethiopia. This one retails for $118 and can be found at Barney's, Fred Segal and Anthropologie allegedly.

Light as a Feather

Last year for my birthday Toby gave me a lovely little gold pineapple necklace and I wear it constantly. I get tons of compliments on it and my lovely friend Amanda knew right away it was a Dogeared design. Their things are charming and modern at the same time and I have quickly become a fan. My new fave is the 'Light as a Feather' necklace. I'm hoping to pick one up for as a special treat soon. Available at Dogeared.com.

A Cuppa Cuppa

I love the ceramic version of the quintessential New York coffee cup. I want to take it to farmer's market and use it for my Blue Bottle coffee. I'm no waster! I love me a good personal coffee cup. Available at www.wearehappytoserveyou.com
and other hip joints.
*I picked this up and love it every time I use it. I have yet to take it to farmer's market though.

Thanks Andi!

Andi took me to the Grateful Dead show last night at Shoreline. It was pretty incredible. Totally wild to drop into the scene, and it was massive amounts of people still rockin' that scene, after so many years. It was a gorgeous night and we heard one of my favorites, Estimated Prophet, right at the beginning of the second set.

California, a prophet on the burning shore
California, I'll be knocking on the golden door
Like an angel, standing in the shaft of light
Rising up to Paradise, I know I'm gonna shine.

It was really nice weather and there were fire dancers during this crazy drum session that were amazing. We also got to hear Terrapin Station, Morning Dew and Fire on the Mountain (as we were leaving) which I've always liked. I hated to leave during the encore but I didn't want to get caught in the melee of the escape from the parking lot. It was a late night but really fun.

Set list below:

(Set 1)
Jack Straw
U.S. Blues
Mason's Children
Ship Of Fools
Friend Of The Devil
Standing On The Moon
Lady With A Fan
Terrapin Station
Standing On The Moon

(Set 2)
Estimated Prophet
New Potato Caboose
Born Cross-Eyed
Dear Mr. Fantasy
Drums
Space
Morning Dew
China Cat Sunflower
I Know You Rider

(Encore)
Scarlet Begonias
Fire On The Mountain
Deal

Quote of the night:
Random hippie dirtball girl-
These mushrooms are so fun right now. I can feel all the cells in my brain popping.

El Ultimo Eichler

Yup. I'd move to Marin for this.

Daytrippin'

I'll admit it. I've been coveting this See by Chloe Daytripper bag for months now. C'mon, it is bright orange! And there is just something about glazed leather that I'm loving. Clearly so much fun to run around town with. Yes, I know I'll never actually own it but if not for things like this, why does this blog exist? Available at Bloomingdales.
But we don't shop there right Fungs?

Fancy Feet*

In tough economic times like these a girl has to cut back. So for now, the regular pedicures are becoming less and less regular. Although, I am looking forward to a fancy one with Lisa sometime soon! In the interim between pampering I want to try this Dr. Scholl's Smooth My Sole thing. I found a coupon
online and can pick it up at my local drugstore, or at Drugstore.com.

*Update: A loyal reader (Andi) bought me the equivalent as a little gift this weekend. I am now the proud owner of the original Ped Egg!!

Misty Water Colored Memories

On my first and only trip to the South, Toby and I went to Nashville first class all the way. We stayted at the nicest hotel in town, had big steak dinner, were VIP at CMT and went to see Modest Mouse, Band of Horses and Love as Laughter at the Ryman and sat in the very front pew! Ol' Mother Church treated us right. Unfortunately we spaced and didn't buy the poster before it sold out. When we tried to buy it later at Hatch Show Print shop they said they didn't have the blocks any longer. Darnit! Every once in awhile I go a searchin' for it to buy but have yet to find it. I found a link to it here.

Cruisin' in Style

I just returned from vacation to celebrate my five year anniversary. On a romantic walk down the beach I spied a pirate riding a penny-farthing being chased down by a woman in a floral pantsuit riding a motorized ice chest. Right then and there I decided I must have one...the ice chest, not the pantsuit. And if I have my way, I'll steer clear of pirates on penny-farthings from here on out. I want the electric version of course. Available direct from www.cruzincooler.com

Bedtime for Baby

In my entire life I've only ever had one headboard. I bought it myself and left it at my parents in their 'guestroom' (my room) after college. I think it might be time to become an adult and actually get some real bedroom furniture. I love how this one has the fancy lines of a baroque piece but with a rustic, recycled, handmade finish. It is available at VivaTerra.
